Nothing of course needs to be resolved right now but there might be a few cons missing from the convention area and "maybe" should consider opening up a subforum titled "Others" in the Convention area for things such as TexRenFest, Scarborough, Con DFW, All-Con, that good jazz

Yay TRF and Scarborough. This would also give us the opportunity to add 1 day events like Mizuumi and Cosplay Day Out. |

-nodnod- And even though it's not in "Texas", I know that I try to go to a few of the "local"-ish out of state cons (OK & LA). Might be nice to get threads up for those, but even if not, I have other places I can post about them

An "other" section would be a perfect edition. Now we need to drag Furby back over here he needs to post more

For you northern people, OkC and Tulsa are decently close. For us, Mecha and Louisianime aren't exactly all that far (no farther than Dallas, and closer then Shimakon (South Padre). |

"You northern people" lol love how you refer to us
and really it's not that far for me to go anywhere in texas... it's just the cash >.< and the work... And the fact that I would be going to a con........... that's basically shredding money right there

Yes, "Northern People". Texas (like the US), is broken into several very distinct areas - and one of the lines is between Houston and Dallas. I've met a lot of people who never cross those lines (Houston Region, Dallas/ Fort Worth, San Antonio/ Austin, San Angelo, El Paso, Pan Handle, South East Texas, Waco/Brian/College Station, "Deep East") I agree that most drives in Texas aren't really that far - but I don't consider Northern Florida that far either; from where I live, the Atlantic ocean (Jacksonville, Fl) is only 100 more miles than driving to El Paso would be. Panama City Beach is 100 miles closer than El Paso. I've made day trips to Tulsa from San Antonio. All that having been said, I spent a lot of time on the east coast in the military, and to them 100 miles is a very long way. I once woke up in Maryland, ate breakfast in Virginia, lunch in Delaware, dinner in Pennsylvania, and went clubbing in D.C., and was back in my own bed that night - and I didn't spend all day in the car (about 250 miles vehicle and an hour in the subway). Everybody I know from the area (that area, not Texas) was shocked I would drive a whole 250 miles in one day. Many of the Marylanders from north of Fort Meade had never been to DC because it was 30 to 40 miles away and that was a long drive. |

Reminds me of when I was in Ohio - it was very easy to cross between states

I've crossed into many many states... I've been all over Texas all the way down to South Padre hung out around San Antonio, can't say I stopped in Austin. Went to Big Spring talk about middle of no where...
And I frequent Florida and West Virginia since I have a lot of family there.BTW We also have an Other section in cons now thanks to Furby. |

| Mostly south Texas for me. Alabama and then before Katrina New Orleans every year for thanksgiving. Oklahoma and that's the extent of my travels. |

| Those would be good additions to our 'Other' section for the moment. I've looked into Ushicon and would like to have more info before adding them to the list. |

| The reason I opted to add in Ushicon, for the time being, is because the last two Ushicons weren't your usual conventions and this is an all ages board, while Ushicon was an 18+ con. I'm not sure how the next Ushicon will be run, whether they will follow the same fumula of previous Ushicons or make it a full fledge con. |

| From what I can see on Ushicon's site it is still an 18+ con. |
